Quetta Customs recovers huge quantity of smuggled tyres

KARACHI: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Quetta, has recovered a huge quantity of smuggled tyres and chassis of different vehicles.

Sources informed Customs Today that Director General Customs intelligence Imtiaz Ahmad Khan received information that an attempt will be made to smuggle a huge quantity of tyres through Pak-Afghan border. He instructed deputy director customs intelligence to form teams and enhance their surveillance.

During the checking of vehicles, the customs teams under the supervision of deputy director intercepted two trucks and recovered a huge quantity of tyres, while customs team also seized chassis of three jeeps, and cars. The market value of seized chassis are Rs 8 million, while the price of the truck which was being used for transportation of these tyres is Rs 7 million.

Customs teams seized the tyres and forwarded the case to customs adjudication for further proceedings.
