ICCI asks CDA to early complete expansion work on Islamabad Dry Port road

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has stressed that CDA should complete repair/expansion work on Islamabad Dry Port road on a priority basis to facilitate business activities.

ICCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh said that the Islamabad Dry Port was playing an important role in promoting exports/imports and business activities in the region and the CDA had started repair/expansion work on Dry Port road. However, the pace of work was very slow due to which business community was facing difficulties.

He said that business community was playing an important role in the development of the economy and improving basic infrastructure in industrial and commercial areas should be key focus of CDA. He said broken roads in industrial and commercial areas were also needed urgent attention of CDA. He said due to unsatisfactory condition of roads in industrial areas of Islamabad, easy movement of heavy duty vehicles in these areas has become difficult and stressed that CDA should focus on urgent repair of all roads in industrial areas to facilitate production activities.

Meanwhile, he also said that water supply in Sector I-10/1, Islamabad was suspended for the last 15 days due to which industrialists and residents of the area were facing great problems and has called upon the Capital Development Authority to urgently restore water supply in this area to save people from further difficulties.

Atif Ikram Sheikh said that Sector I-10/1 has been facing water shortage for the last many months and this issue was highlighted many times for the attention of CDA, but it was unfortunate that the civic body has not taken any remedial measures to ensure regular water supply to industrialists and residents of the area. He said water was the basic need of human being and summer season was around the corner. He urged that CDA should take this matter seriously and ensure regular supply of water to ease the woes of residents of the area.
