ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has sealed as many as 203 houses in the residential sectors due to their commercial use in violation of the building by-laws.
An official of CDA said the operation against commercial use of the housing units in the residential sectors was launched on the directives of the Supreme Court and they are moving ahead in the right direction to serve this purpose.
It is pertinent to mention here that CDA has issued notices to owners or operators of guesthouses, schools, offices, showrooms, restaurants, boutiques and clinics etc. to vacate residential buildings immediately otherwise they would face action by the civic authority.
“In all, owners of 305 houses voluntarily stopped using their commercial use and now action will be taken against remaining 1,187 houses that are commercially being used in the residential sectors. A total of Rs23 million have been collected as a fine from violators who illegally used their houses for the commercial purposes,” he said.
