FAISALABAD: Additional Collector Saima Aftab has declared seizure of golden bridge rods (made in China) as legal according to Customs Act 1969.
According to details, the Customs intelligence team raided the godown of M/s Sajid Goods near truck stand Jhang Road and found 198 cartons of golden bridge welding rods. The customs staff asked the godown employee, who was identified as Abdul Hamid , to produce legal documents regarding the possession of the items. But he failed to produce any documents regarding legal import and lawful possession. After his failure, the customs tam seized the rods and forwarded the case to the customs adjudication.
During the proceedings of the case, no one appeared to defend the case from respondent side nor any written reply has been received from the respondent despite giving ample opportunities to be heard. Muhammad Tahir Senior Intelligence Officer (SIO) appeared from the prosecution side and asserted that the seized rods fall under the ambit of section 2(s) of the Customs Act 1969.
After scrutinizing whole case Additional Collector Saima Aftab issued Order in Original (ONO) in favor of Customs intelligence and declared the seizure of smuggled items under section 156(1)90 of the customs act 1969 as legal.
