Economic ties between Pakistan, France strengthening: Envoy

SIALKOT: The ambassador of France in Pakistan Martine Dorance has said that the economic, political and diplomatic relations between Pakistan and France are strengthening day by day and both sides are making strenuous efforts to further boost these relations.

France was keen to boost mutual trade with Pakistan, pledging to make efforts to remove all the hurdles to promote mutual trade between Pakistan and France.

She stated this while addressing an important meeting of the Sialkot business community held at the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI). The ambassador visited several leading industrial units in Sialkot. She said, “We can do more for further increasing the mutual trade ties with Pakistan, as we are in good move in developing the better political, diplomatic and economical relations with Pakistan”. She said that it was also very important to further look forward and do more.

French envoy also assured to make all out sincere efforts from France to increase the mutual trade volume in favour of Pakistan as well, saying that Pakis

tan business community should ensure maximum exports to France and other European Union Countries through France by taking the full advantages of GSP Plus status to Pakistan. She said that the Pakistani businessmen would be most welcomed in France.

Ambassador of France in Pakistan Ms. Martine Dorance invited the Sialkot exporters to divert their business activities to France, saying that the Sialkot exporters were the much aware of the international quality standards and they also have the great potential to explore and capture the international trade markets of France and EU countries through France as well by exporting their diversified traditional and non-traditional export products.

She assured Sialkot exporters their easy access to international French trade markets and even the EU trade markets through France as well. She also asked the Sialkot exporters to participate the international trade fairs and exhibitions to be held in France as well.

French ambassador also highly hailed the Sialkot exporters’ initiative of establishing their own private international airline namely “Air Sial” being established on self help basis by Sialkot exporters after establishing Sialkot international airport on self help basis. She said that Sialkot exporters have set a great precedent of self help for the world by establishing these mega projects.

French ambassador also stressed upon the need of making some effective joint efforts to boost mutual trade between Pakistan and France.

She vowed to make all out sincere efforts to boost mutual trade ties between Pakistan and France, saying that the time was ripe to further strengthen these mutual trade ties. She said that both of the countries have been enjoying the cordial trade relations.

Acting SCCI president Muhamamd Sarfraz Butt said that Sialkot exporters have a great potential to explore and capture the international trade markets of France by exporting their world class traditional and non-traditional export products. For improving bilateral trade, Sialkot exporters suggested that exchange of trade delegations and one-to-one meetings of businessmen of both sides may be arranged.

SCCI president revealed that there was no doubt to say that Sialkot-made sports goods, surgical instruments, leather products, gloves of all sorts, textiles items, sports wear, martial arts uniforms and accessories, musical instruments, kitchen ware, hollow ware, knives, cutlery items and military uniform badges etc. could find a good market in France.

Earlier, talking to the local industrialists and exporters during her visit to several leading industrial units in Sialkot, the French Ambassador said that France was keen to boost the mutual trade ties with Pakistan, pledging to make efforts to remove all the hurdles from the way of promoting the mutual trade between Pakistan and France. She stressed upon the need of making some effective joint efforts to boost mutual trade between Pakistan and France. She said that France will encourage the regular exchange of the mutual trade delegations between France and Pakistan. She said that both of the countries have been enjoying the cordial trade relations.

Acting SCCI president Muhammad Sarfraz Butt presided over the meeting.
