Customs Inteligence impounds Rs 40m cloth, rods, soaps, blades

LAHORE: Customs Intelligence and Investigations Wednesday impounded Rs 40 million contraband goods and articles.

According to details, the customs authorities recovered over 162000 meters of India made cloth from a gowdon near Thokar Niaz Baig. The customs authorizes on the information of director Saud Imran raided the godown and seizd the Indian made cloth worth Rs 20 million.

In another operation the customs authorities impounded 530 cartons of electric rods from a truck. The truck was intercepted by the customs authorities while it was entering the limits of Lahore region.

It was said that value of the electric rods is determined at Rs 10 million. Yet in another raid the customs authorities confiscated 444 dozons of Indian soap, 76 carton of oil, shaving blades, and other illegally imported items, non-customs paid items were seized from a passenger bus which was coming from Peshawar. The market value of seized goods is Rs 10 million.

Customs Superintendent Yasin Malik told Customs Today that customs team on the directions of director Saud Imran has intensified operations against the smuggling actives and in coming days more successful operation will be conducted to tackle the menace o smuggling.

The team that conducted the successful operation consisted of Mansoor Elahi, Sarwar, Zuliqar Dogar was led by Malik Yasin and Malik Amjad.
