Customs Court hears 30 cases on Thursday

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling on Thursday heard 30 different cases, including pre-arrest and post arrest bail pleas filed by suspects.

Most of the cases were adjourned without any proceedings as the parties and lawyers concerned did not appear in the court. Meanwhile, the Customs Court adjourned post-arrest bail pleas of Asghar Ali, Aqil Shah and Liaqat Ali. All the accused are in jail on judicial remands in smuggling cases.

Hearing of pre-arrest bail pleas filed by accused persons named Hammad Akhtar, Shabir Ahmad, Usman and Mian Waqas were also adjourned until next week. A case against Muhammad Shoaib was also scheduled for hearing in which court sent him to jail for judicial trial. Recording of statements in cases against Abdul sattar, Muhammad Shahid and Sara Adnan were also made by the court.

Final arguments and statements of the parties concerned in a case of smuggling against Hassan Zaib were also made today.
