Muhammad Rizwan was arrested from Lahore airport when he was trying to smuggle seven kilogram of gold abroad in November 2015 and had linked to a famous political person of Lahore named Toufeeq Butt. Butt was arrested too but he got bail from the court. The Customs Court in previous hearing asked the investigation team to speed up the investigation process to conclude the case.

After the end of physical remand, he was sent on judicial remand, which now again has been extended.

It is also learnt here that customs is trying to trace his network involved in smuggling of gold in order to make their black money into white.
