Chairman FBR Nisar orders effective measures to control smuggling

KARACHI: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Nisar Mohammad Khan has directed Director-General Customs Intelligence Imtiaz Ahmad Khan, and Chief Collector North Sarwat Tahira Habib to adopt comprehensive strategy to control smuggling on Pak-Afghan border and through Afghan transit trade route.

Sources told Customs Today that the FBR chairman directed both officials to coordinate with Frontier Constabulary (FC)  and political agents of FATA in this regard and extend them full support for curbing smuggling in the area.

It is necessary to mention here that chairman FBR issued these directions after his meeting with collector Peshawar Qurban Ali Khan. Sources said that Qurban Ali Khan told chairman FBR that if they receive any information about smuggling attempt through Pak-Afghan Transit Trade route, it require lot of time to reach the exacat location. So it is suggested after the meeting that customs department should coordinate with political and security forces in this regard and seek their help to control smuggling

Sources said that chairman FBR directed customs authorities to use all resources to curb smuggling attempts on Pakistan Afghanistan Transit Trade route.
