ASO impounds vehicles, goods worth Rs 164 million

MULTAN: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) seized a huge quantity of smuggled goods and vehicles worth Rs 164 million from July to April.

The ASO launched a massive anti-smuggling operation with the special assistance of Border Military Police and Customs Intelligence.

The Multan Model of Customs Collectorate and ASO formed a special team to curb smuggling and ensure special vigilance at major entry points of the various region with the assistance of the law enforcement agencies.

Collector Sarfraz Ahmad Warraich told Customs Today that the ASO impounded 61 vehicles of numerous models and designs worth is Rs 64 million. These impounded vehicles include, Toyota Premio, Mark X, Land Cruiser, Vitz, Toyota Hilux Surf, Corolla and others.

The Model of Customs Collectorate Multan detected 57 cases of various miscellaneous goods worth Rs 101 million during the on-going fiscal year. The seized items include tyres, auto parts, grease, HSD, mobiles phones and cloth.

The Model of Customs Collectorate Multan formed 118 seizure cases of Rs 164 million against the offenders in their on-going campaign against smugglers and tax evaders. A huge quantity of smuggled goods were seized and eight suspected smugglers were arrested.

Furthermore, Collector Sarfraz Ahmad Warraich said that Multan Customs would continue operation to curb the menace of smuggling in the region.
