Customs foils 320gms heroin smuggling to UK through parcel

ISLAMABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate failed a drug smuggling attempt through a parcel to Manchester UK and seized 320 grams of heroin.

During clearance of export registry parcels at international mail office Chaklala Garrison Rawalpindi, a parcel found suspicious. The officials conducted detail examination of parcel that led to recovery of 320 grams of heroin worth Rs 3.2 million in international market. The heroin was concealed in the bindings of three books.

As per initial investigations, the parcel was booked by Raja Waqas Ali, House No 28/9 Haider Camp, PAF Base Chaklala Rawalpindi for Z. Rafique ,53 Huxley Avenue M8 Olx Cheetah Hill Manchester UK.

FIR No 24/2016 has been lodged against the accused consigner with Investigation and Prosecution branch under Customs Act, 1969. Raids to arrest the accused are being conducted by the officials.
