Anti-smuggling drive intensified to save national kitty: Qurban Ali

PESHAWAR: Collector Qurban Ali said that drive against smuggling in the jurisdiction has been intensified that was inflicting heavy losses to national exchequer.

The collector was addressing on a vehicles distribution ceremony here at Model Customs Collectorate, Peshawar. He said that due to smuggling thousand of our industries remained closed and huge losses occurred in term of business and trade.

In order to intensify anti-smuggling drive in Peshawar and Khyber Agency, the Peshawar Customs handed over double cabin vehicle to various units of Kohat and Peshawar.

These vehicles have been handed over by Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to Peshawar Customs to make the operation more effective against various smugglers in scattered areas of Peshawar and Kohat. Additional Collector Yousaf Haider, Fazl-e-Sammad and Assistant Collector Asad Ali were present on the occasion.

Qurban Ali said that FBR has also directed to speed up operation against non-custom paid vehicles being smuggled to other parts of the country. He added that due to steps taken by the collectorate and FBR, smuggling activities started reducing.

Later, the keys of double cabinet vehicle handed over to the special checking squad of Kohat and Shergar, while some keys of motorbikes were also handed over to the officers of Mardan and Shergarh region.
