ISLAMABAD: Model Custom Collectorate Assistant Collector Tahir Iqbal Khattak has said that contraband items worth Rs 42.84 million were seized during April of the current fiscal year.
Talking to Customs Today, Assistant Collector Tahir Iqbal Khattak said that the department was striving hard to achieve the target of current fiscal year. On the direction of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the Islamabad Customs has launched an anti-smuggling campaign that is going well, he said. Under the supervision of Collector Arslan Subuctageen, the teams conducted various raids in the region and foiled smuggling attempts saving the national revenue, he said.
The customs officials seized electronics, including LED TVs, cell phones and its accessories, and micro wave ovens worth Rs 14.2 million in an action, he said, adding that a huge quantity of smuggled auto parts worth Rs 2.42 million was also captured.
The assistant collector said that smuggled tyers value at Rs 1.39 million, black tea worth Rs 448,718, fabric Rs 7.14 million, cigarettes Rs 6.95 million and miscellaneous items worth Rs 7.4 million.
Tahir said that anti-smuggling campaign was in full swing, adding that such activities played a crucial role in revenue generation.
