Faisalabad Customs Intelligence seizes items worth Rs 14m in 10 days

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated smuggled items worth Rs 14.4 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 4.15 million during last 10 days of April 2016.

Following the directions of Customs Intelligence Additional Director Azmat Tahira, a team comprising Superintendent Muhammad Rafiq, Senior Intelligence Officer Zahid Saleem Mirza, Intelligence Officer Bashir Hussain, sepoys Khalil Ahmad, Muhammad Sajjad, Muhammad Iqbal and Fakhar Abbas conducted various raids against smugglers.

The intelligence team confiscated 176 bales of Indian polyester fabrics worth Rs 7 million, 278 bundles of handmade carpets worth Rs 2.409 million and also impounded two vehicles worth Rs 5 million, which were being used for transportation of the smuggled items. The officials confiscated the items after the owners failed to show documents regarding their legal import.

The seizure reports have been submitted with the adjudication department for further legal process.
