ANF seizes 2.086 ton drugs worth Rs 2.99b in different operations

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has seized 2.086 ton of drugs worth Rs 2.99 billion in international market. The seized drugs comprised 1 ton amphetamine, 1.081 ton hashish, 4.46 kilograms of heroin, 990 grams methamphetamine and 420 gram cocaine. The operations also resulted in arrest of 14 suspects, including two women and a foreigner, while five vehicles were impounded.

According to details, ANF Quetta seized 1,000 kilograms amphetamine while carrying out an operation at Killi Ghabezai, tehsil Gulistan, district Qilla Abdullah. Tdhe drug was concealed at uninhabited site located in mountains. As per reports, the drug was intended to be handed over to other narcotics gang.

ANF Rawalpindi in an intelligence led operation intercepted 2 vehicles near Quaid-e-Azam Hospital, Golra Mor, GT Road, Rawalpindi, recovering 7.5 kilograms of hashish and 420 gram of cocaine concealed in the vehicles. The operation also resulted in arrest of two drug smugglers.

In another operation, ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a Suzuki Bolan at GT Road near Hassan Abdal, Attock and recovered 1.2 kilograms of heroin from possession of the accused on board. Yet in another operation near Shell petrol pump, Mandi Mor, IJP Road, Islamabad, ANF Rawalpindi arrested two local drug peddlers along with three kilograms of hashish.

In another operation, ANF Karachi intercepted a Suzuki Hi-roof near Nehal Hospital, Malir, Karachi and recovered 79 kilograms of hashish concealed in the vehicle. Two persons identified as Shahnawaz and Muhammad Saeed both residents of Karachi were arrested at the spot. All cases have been registered at respective ANF police stations and further investigations are underway.
