M/s Huawei Technologies deposits evaded taxes of Rs1.650m

KARACHI: In response to PCA audit observation, M/s Huawei Technologies Pakistan (Private) Limited has deposited evaded taxes/duty Rs 1.65 million.

According to details, during the audit of import data of ‘Lead Acid VRLA Batteries for Telephone Exchanges’ it was observed that M/s Huawei Technologies imported ‘Lead Acid VRLA Battery for Telephone Exchange (48V)’, by demanding PCT heading 8507.2010 chargeable to CD @ 10 % instead of declaring them under their correct PCT heading 8507.2090 chargeable to CD @ 20 %. Thus, they have evaded/short paid and taxes to the tune of Rs. 1,650,854.

It is pertinent to mention here that the similar goods have been cleared by different other importers under PCT heading 8507.2090. The importer, in response to the audit observation, has deposited the amount of duty/taxes mentioned therein.
