Customs Court seeks challan in BOPP film smuggling case

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has asked the Faisalabad Customs Investigation and Prosecution team to present the investigation challan against Mubarak Sheikh, allegedly involved in BOPP film smuggling, in next hearing.

Earlier, the Customs Court approved the post-arrest bail plea of suspect of smuggling items from Afghanistan to Faisalabad.

The suspect was arrested by the Faisalabad Customs for his alleged involvement in smuggling of BOPP film. The customs officials raided his warehouse and recovered two trucks loaded with smuggled items worth Rs 4.5 million.

The customs authorities asked Mubarak Sheikh to show documents regarding the customs clearance of the BOPP film but he failed to produce the same.

The customs registered a case against him under Section 2 (2), 16, 18, 132 A, 156 89 and 178 of the Pakistan Customs Act, 1969. After judicial trial, the Customs Court approved his bail and now the court has asked for interrogation challan of the case in next hearing to reach verdict.
