Collector Adjudication Zafar Akhtar declares confiscation of BMW legal

LAHORE: Collector Adjudication Zafar Akhtar has declared confiscation of BMW bearing registration no. NV-300/ Islamabad, seized by Customs Intelligence and Investigations authorities, as legal.

The collector adjudication, in his order, said that he examined the case record and heard the arguments put forth by the seizing agency.  He added that respondent neither responded to the show cause notice nor appeared to defend his case.

He said that the respondent was given a number of opportunities to produce documents of the vehicle but he failed to produce anything. He added that consequently, he ordered that the vehicle is outrightly confiscated under clause (89)  of section 156(1) of the Customs Act. The BMW was seized by customs authorities on a information near Marvel Hotel, Defence Housing Authority.
