FBR should investigate offshore companies, suggests Senate Committee on Finance

ISLAMABAD: Senate Committee on Finance Chairman Senator Saleem Mandiviwala has said that “we have decided to approach the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) about offshore companies. He said that a final decision in this regard will be taken after return of the FBR chairman from Dubai.

According to details, the senate committee considered various issues which included issue of non-duty vehicles which have already been parked on the premises of the Peshawar Dry Port for the last three years. The committee also approved to send privatisation report of Muslim Commercial Bank to National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

During the meeting, Senator Nisar Mohammad expressed his annoyance that despite many promises the issue of non-customs paid vehicles is still pending. He said overseas Pakistanis sends these vehicles now they are waiting from last three years for clearance of their vehicles.

On this occasion Senator Saleem Mandiviwala said that all relevant heads of departments must attend this meeting. The committee was informed that a detailed presentation will be given to participants on the issue of MTOs promotion in Muslim Commercial Bank. Various bills which as already passed by National Assembly were presented before the committee. Prominent among those who attended the committee includes Senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilour, Mohsin Khan Leghari, Ayesha Reza Farooq, Kamil Ali Agha, Mushahidullah Khan, Saud Majeed, Fateh Mohammad Hasni, Islamuddin Sheikh, Nisar Mohammad. While officials from finance ministry, FBR, SECP and National Bank of Pakistan were also present during the meeting.
