Customs Intelligence-Enforcement Director Yaqoob for enhancing surveillance at ports

KARACHI: The Director (Enforcement) Customs Intelligence and Investigation-FBR Karachi region Yaqoob Mako was chaired a meeting of the officers of the directorate at his office.

The meeting was attended by the Additional Director (Enforcement) Farrukh Sajjad, Deputy Director Amjad Rajpar, Deputy Director Tauseef Alam Gorchani and others.

During the meeting, the Director (Enforcement) Yaqoob Mako expressed his satisfaction over the working of the Directorate but added that there is always room for improvement and more efforts are needed to strengthen the directorate.

The Director-Enforcement said that more surveillance is needed at ports to ensure the recovery of duty/taxes of the cleared consignments.

Yaqoob Mako further advised the authorities concerned to ensure transparency in order to check the examined consignments and amount of duty/taxes paid by the consignees.

The Additional Director Farrukh Sajjad also briefed the Director-Enforcement about the cases being made by the Director (Enforcement) Customs I&I in tax evasion, mis-declaration and under-invoicing.

Later, Director (Enforcement) Yaqoob Mako urged the authorities concerned to ensure early disposal of the cases being made by the directorate and send those to the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
