Sialkot ASO seizes cell phones, vehicle worth Rs 2.7m

SIALKOT: The Customs Anti Smuggling Organisation (ASO) confiscated 139 cell phones and 16 tablets worth Rs 1.5 million at Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) and a vehicle worth Rs 1.2 million during another action.

ASO incharge Assistant Collector Fahad Bashir Chaudhary told Custom Today that he received information that a person named Muhammad Waris was coming at Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) from Sharjah on private air line carrying 139 cell phones and 16 tablets.

Following information, customs staff deputed at the airport enhanced vigilance and capture the said passenger for checking, which led to the recovery of cell phones and tablets.

The officials arrested the accused person and shifted him to jail, besides registering a case against him under the customs laws.

Meanwhile, the Sialkot ASO impounded a car, Toyota Mark-II worth Rs.1.2 at Grand Trunk (GT) Road during an action. The officials released the driver of the vehicle after proper interrogation.
