Hyderabad ASO confiscates items worth Rs 15.8m in April

HYDERABAD: Under the supervision of Collector Agha Shahid Majeed Khan, the Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) seized smuggled items worth Rs 15.8 million during outgoing month, April 2016.

Sources told Customs Today that the ASO teams, following the instruction of Collector Agha Shahid, conducted various raids in Hyderabad, Sukkur and Larkana. The team conducted raids under the supervision of Additional Collector Omar Shafique and confiscated smuggled goods.

According to the details, the ASO seized 18,000 litres of Iranian diesel worth Rs 86,400, at least 500 yards of foreign origin cloth worth Rs 95,000, at least 668,597 sachets of gutka valued at Rs 6,480,770, around 3560 carton of cigarette valued at Rs 1.693 million, auto spare parts worth 544,500, electronics valued at Rs 117,200 and miscellaneous goods valued at Rs 4.457 million during the said period.

The ASO team comprising Deputy Collector Nafees Ahmed, Assistant Collector Zam Zam Amaan, Superintendent Shabbir phalphtu, inspectors and sepoys conducted raids to foil smuggling bids in the region.
