Tax evasion: Customs Court extends judicial remand of suspect

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has extended the judicial remand of a suspect allegedly involved in tax evasion.

The court adjourned the post-arrest bail plea of Zunair Ahmad in previous hearing.

According to the details, Zunair Ahmad son of Zaka Waleed was arrested by the Inland Revenue (IR) Intelligence and Investigation following the charges of sales tax evasion.

Zunair owns a factory and manufactures household items. He is allegedly involved in concealing the actual sales of the factory in order to avoid taxes. Therefore, the officials arrested him and registered a case against him under Sales Tax Ordinance, 1990.

The officials presented him before the Customs Court, where he had been sent on physical remand for interrogation. Accused Zunair Ahmad is a resident of Rachna block Allama Iqbal Town, Lahore.
