Customs Intelligence confiscates 12,575kg smuggled Indian cloth

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized 12,575 kilogram of Indian origin cloth which was imported in the guise of Chinese origin cloth, during an action.

Following information received through Senior Intelligence Officer Muhammad Mansoor Nasir, the staff intercepted a trailer bearing Registration No TLW-676 loaded with container No. MEDU 8367654 bearing seal No. 140264 near Sabzi Mandi Jhang Road, Faisalabad and recovered Indian origin cloth. The cloth was confiscated on the charge of mis-declaration.

The driver of the trailer identified as Muhammad Aslam produced a receipt No. 357 issued by Arshad Ali Cargo Service and a copy of GD No. KAPE-HC- 94200. As per the receipt, M/S LEVIS Fabrics Limited and M/s U Trade Logistics (Private) Limited are consignee and consignor, respectively. But the address and contact numbers of consignee and consignor are not mentioned on the receipt.

Meanwhile, Additional Collector Azmat Tahira appreciated the performance of intelligence staff. The Customs Intelligence team comprising Senior Intelligence Officer Zahid Saleem Mirza, Intelligence Officer Mansoor Nasir, driver Tajamul Haq, havaldar Muhammad Sajjad and Sepoy Khalil Ahmad participated in the raid.

The customs team after impounding the goods and vehicle sent the report to the Customs Adjudication for further legal proceedings.
