During the hearing, the petitioner’s attorney, Ammar Ahmed, requested the court to direct the release of imported merchandise on payment of duties and taxes through a pay order until dispute is decided by the steel committee.

Earlier, the petitioner’s counsel stated that petitioner imported a consignment of 167.1MT of”prime quality cold rolled hard steel coils” from Europe on December 22, 2016 and filed goods declaration. However officials of the Model Customs Collectorate Appraisement-West after examining the containers of the petitioner had determined that said consignment did not contain “primary” goods but rather the same contain “secondary”.

According to the petitioner, entire action by the respondents is illegal, malicious, unwarranted and nullify as per law.

Citing FBR chairman, Model Customs Collectorate Appraisement-West as the respondents, the petitioner pleaded the court to direct the respondents to release its consignment.
