Faisalabad ASO seizes foreign origin cloth during crackdown

FAISALABAD: The Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized smuggled cloth. The market value of the seized cloth is Rs 850,000 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs 266,319.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Dr Zulfiqar Chaudhary received information regarding smuggling of  foreign origin cloth.

After receiving the information, Deputy Collector Rizwan Khan constituted a special team which included Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joiya, Inspectors Khalid Ashraf Noor, Muhammad Safdar, Muhammad Naeem, Muhammad Yaseen, Javid Iqbal (sepoys).

The ASO team intercepted a Mazda mini-truck bearing registration no. LES- 5872 near Sargodha Road. The truck was loaded with 16 bundles of  smuggled cloth. The accused persons namely, Rohullah, Muhammad Taous, Ameer Ali were arrested. The ASO team asked the accused person to produce legal documents regarding possession of cloth but they failed to provide the same.

After their failure ASO team seized the cloth and registered a case against accused persons.
