Faisalabad ASO seizes items worth Rs 10.646m in last week of May

FAISALABAD: The Faisalabad Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) claimed to have seized smuggled items worth Rs 10,646,350 and registered 10 cases of smuggling during the last week of May.

According to details, Deputy Collector Rizwan Khan conducted raids against smugglers and owners of non-duty paid vehicles in the regions and impounded five vehicles worth Rs 5.5 million. The ASO staff impounded the vehicles after the drivers failed to show the documents regarding legal import of the vehicles. Meanwhile, the officials seized four non-duty paid tampered vehicles worth Rs 3.75 million brought into the country without payment of customs duty and taxes.

Furthermore, the ASO staff confiscated auto spare parts worth Rs 686,100 and miscellaneous items worth Rs 710,250 during the said period. The officials seized the items under prevailing customs laws and registered cases against the culprits.
