Islamabad Customs impounds vehicles, goods worth Rs 7.1m

ISLAMABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad impounded non-duty paid vehicles and smuggled goods worth Rs 7.154 million from May 28 to June 3, 2016.

Deputy Collector Shahid Jan said that anti-smuggling activity was going very successful, adding that the teams were working on the special instruction of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) under the guidance of Collector Dr. Arslan Subuctageen.

During the said period, the staff confiscated 1752 kilogram of foreign origin fabric, two body-changed non-duty paid vehicles valued at Rs 2.74 million and three offending vehicles worth Rs 2 million.

The anti-smuggling squad also seized 7630kg food grains worth Rs 1. 539 million and 270 units of  CD/ DVD players worth Rs 153,090.

Deputy Collector Shahid Jan expressed hope that Islamabad Customs will exceed the set revenue target of fiscal year 2015-16.
