Collector Preventive Tariq Huda to coordinate with other agencies to curb smuggling by air

KARACHI: The Collector Customs Preventive Syed Muhammad Tariq Huda is likely to go Islamabad next week for having some important engagements with the high-ups of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

Sources informed Customs Today that the FBR and Pakistan Customs have decided to gear-up efforts to arrest the gangs who are involved in heroin smuggling and other contraband items by air.

The sources informed that the FBR has also decided to take up the thorough investigation into such cases and also take all other intelligence agencies on board in this regard.

“The FBR authorities called on the Collector- Preventive S M Tariq Huda to interact with the high authorities of other intelligence agencies over the developments into the said cases”, sources added.

The sources further disclosed that the Collector Preventive Tariq Huda would hold meetings with the authorities concerned of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Airport Security Force (ANF) and Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) during his visit.

Responding to a query, the sources said that the authorities concerned of all intelligence agencies would evolve a comprehensive strategy in order to stop such type of cases in the future as well as the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) would also speed up its investigation in order to unveil the real nexus behind such heinous crime.
