Idaho unemployment rate steady at 3.7% in May

WASHINGTON: The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Idaho in May was 3.7 percent, which was the same rate as April. The national unemployment rate was 4.7 percent in May. Idaho had the third-highest growth in nonfarm jobs among U.S. states over the year, at 3.2 percent.

In Blaine County, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dipped to 2.9 percent in May. Total employment was 11,670 workers, with 344 unemployed workers. In May, employment grew by 1,800 across Idaho, to a total of 779,500 workers. Total unemployment grew by 50 people to 29,880. That was the first time the number of unemployed workers increased since June 2015, according to an Idaho Department of Labor news release.
