Faisalabad Customs Intelligence confiscates 9,000kg zeera worth Rs 1.9m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized 9,000 kilogram of Indian origin cumin seeds (zeera) worth Rs 1.9 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 571,500, besides impounding truck bearing Registration No GLT- 4014.

Sources told Customs Today that a team of Customs Intelligence, following the instruction of Additional Director Azmat Tahira, conducted a raid near Chanab Chowk Jhang Road, Faisalabad and recovered 3,000 bags filled with foreign origin zeera.

The driver Muhammad Sohail son of Zahid Hussain was asked to produce the documents showing the legal import of the items but he remained failed to do the same. Therefore, the team of Customs Intelligence confiscated the item, besides arresting the suspect.

The team comprising Superintendent Maher Muhammad Rafiq, Senior Intelligence Officer Zahid Saleem Mirza, Intelligence Officer Mansoor Nasir, Bashir Hussain, Sepoys Khalil Ahmed, Fakhar Abbas, Mukhtar Hussain, Shaukat Hayyat, and others participated in the raid.
