LAHORE: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Lahore has collected Rs 28.63 million from the auction of non-customs paid luxury cars during two months from May 2016 to June 2016.
The directorate auctioned 10 vehicles and other goods worth Rs 2.28 million in May and 12 vehicles and other seized goods and articles worth Rs 16.35 million in June 2016.
The vehicles that were sold included Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Mark-X, Toyota Lexus, Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Surf, Toyota Mark-X car, Toyota Premio, Honda Civic, Toyota Prius and Toyota X Corolla and others goods and articles
The directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigations Lahore held over five auctions during these two months and sold 24 impounded vehicles and seized goods and articles worth millions of rupees millions during the months under review
The collectorate of customs Intelligence and Investigations auctioned other major non customs paid goods and articles including Siemens brand electric generator tube, foreign origin used generator 350 KVA, 675 kilograms of plastic sheet reels, ammonium coated plastic reels 726 kilograms, plastic aluminum sheet rolls, FG Wilson power diesel generator, used tyres of different brands, DVD Kingston, Windo ACs Skywood indoor and out-door unit split AC Mitsubishi brand, made in Thailand, mother board PCB remote central power video, Iranian tiles tyres of cars, medical equipment, frames fitted with HD lights and other miscellaneous items.
The directorate of Customs I&I was able to auction only cars, however, other miscellaneous goods and articles were auctioned in very small quantity.
The auction was under taken on the directives of Director Saud Imran Ahmad under the supervision of Deputy director Saad Atta Rabbani while Superintendent Amjad Khaliq and Intelligence Officer Abdul Hamed also participated in the auctions.
It is necessary to mention here that all collectorates of customs are using all available resources to meet revenue collection target as current fiscal year is going to end.
Meanwhile, the Customs Intelligence seized LEDs worth Rs 2.5 million from a Karachi bonded train, sources told Customs Today.
The sources said that on information of Director of Customs Intelligence and Investigations Saud Imran Ahmad, the anti-smuggling team of Customs raided a train which was heading towards Karachi from Lahore.
During thorough examination the team recovered assorted types of LEDs of famous companies including 66, 60, 24, 32, 24 inches worth millions of rupees. The sources said that the LEDs were hidden in a consignment of shoes, adding that the LEDs were valued at Rs 2.5 million.
Earlier, Directorate Customs Intelligence and Investigations Lahore seized Rs 6 million non-customs paid tyres loaded in two trucks, on Friday.
The tyres were to be supplied to parties in Sheikhupura and loaded from somewhere in godown in Lahore. The sources said that the trucks were intercepted by customs authorities at the Band Raod and tyres were seized as no legal documentations were available against the consignment.
The sources said that both the trucks were loaded with 100 tyrse of large size each tyres was valued at Rs 60000 per tyre. The trucks were intercepted by a team led by Superintendent Malik Yasin. Inspector Zulfiqar and spoyes were also part of the team.
