FBR attaches bank account of CDA due to non-payment of advance tax

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has frozen the bank account of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) due to non-payment of Rs 163 million as advance tax, making it difficult for the authority to pay salaries to its employees before Eidul Fitr.

According to details, Assistant Commissioner Regional Tax Office directed the freezing of the bank accounts of authority. Sources said that the CDA offered to make half payment of the entire payable amount but the FBR refused to restore the bank accounts. According to the FBR, the bank accounts of the CDA will only be restored after full payment of advance tax.

Sources said that CDA high-ups already conveyed his situation in the notice of higher authorities and sought their interferene in this matter. Talking to Customs Today, Assistant Commissioner Farrukh Amir Siyal said that we are already conducting audit of CDA bank acounts and during audit such things are coming into notice.

He said that we have already brought this situation in the notice of higher authorities and if they will assured us about payment his then we will definitely restore bank accounts of CDA.  He said we issued many notices and remindes to management of CDA asking  them to clear outstanding dues but they remained failed. Now we freeze thier bank accounts after completing all the legal formalities.

Assistant Commissioner  Farrukh Amir Siyal said that FBR assinged us a revenue collection target of Rs3.2 billion which we already achieved.  He assured that RTO Islamabad will definitely achieve the revenue collection target for next fiscal year 2016-17.
