Hundreds of chemical shipments being scrutinized on Collector Ashad Jawwad’s directives

KARACHI: The Research and Development Department of the Customs Collectorate Appraisement-East has held 100 consignments of chemicals on the charge of using wrong tariffs.

According to the details, Collector Customs Collectorate Appraisement-East Ashad Jawwad has asked the Research and Development Department to start scrutinizing the consignments of the chemicals. Acting on the detectives, the officers of the Research and Development Department have halted nearly 100 consignment of the chemicals. Strict scrutiny with regards to the misuse of Pakistan Customs Tariff (PCT) is underway due to which the importers have shown concerns over the decision.

Collector Customs Collectorate Appraisement East Ashad Jawwad while chairing a meeting was informed by the officer regarding the chemicals is being imported on wrong Pakistan Customs Tariff (PCT) by the importers. The Collector Customs Collectorate Appraisement East Ashad Jawwad taking serious note issued the directives to the officers to keep eagle eye whereas asked the concern authority to scrutinize the chemicals consignment at earliest possibility, source added.

The Collector Customs Collectorate Appraisement East Ashad Jawwad also asked the officers to swerve the notices as well as impose heavy penalties to the importers on importing the chemicals consignments against the wrong Pakistan Customs Tariff (PCT).
