Gwadar Customs seizes non-duty paid goods, liquor, gold

KARACHI: The Customs Collectorate Gwadar has recovered a huge quantity of non-duty paid liquor, gold and other goods during different crackdowns.

According to details, Collector Gwadar Saeed Akram received information that some smugglers are planning to smuggle foreign liquor and golds through a ferry. After receiving the information, he constituted a team under the supervision of deputy director which also includes inspectors Ghayor Shah, Assistant Inspector Sarfraz Malik and sepoys.

The team starting patrolling in open sea and intercepted a ferry near Ormara. During checking of ferry the customs team recovered 300 bottles of foreign origin liquor and 40 tolas of 24 karat gold which were smartly hidden in secret parts of ferry.

Customs team seized the goods and arrested three persons who were being involved in smuggling and transportation of these goods. The market value of seized liquor is Rs 1.2million.

While during another crackdown Gwadar customs authorities seized foreign origin electric boards. Sources said that after receiving the information customs team which included Inspector Shoaib Tanoli and Asad Khan raided a house and recovered huge quantity of Iranian made electric board. The market value of seized goods is Rs5million. Customs team after registering a case started investigations.
