Quetta Customs seizes non-duty paid smart phones, luxury vehicles

KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta has recovered a huge quantity of non-duty paid smart mobile phones, while during another crackdown impounded two non-customs paid vehicles.

Sources said that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Imtiaz Ahmad Khan received information that a huge quantity of non-duty paid smart phones are being smuggled outside Quetta. He conveyed the information to Collector Quetta who formed a team under the supervision of deputy director. The customs team established checking points on main entry and exit points of the city. During the checking of vehicles, the customs team intercepted a Suzuki van and recovered more than 100 smart mobile phones.

Customs team asked the driver of the vehicle to show legal documents regarding possession and transportation of above said mobile phones but they failed to provide any documents. Upon their failure customs team seized the mobile phones and registered a case of smuggling against accused persons.

Customs team during another operation which was conducted the area of Shah Zaman impounded two luxury vehicles. Both luxury vehicles were hidden in garriage in recent past. The market value of impounded vehicles is in million of rupees. Customs authorities registered a case of smuggling.
