Gwadar Customs foils attempt to smuggle fake Pakistani currency

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Gwadar has thwarted an attempt to smuggle a huge quantity of Pakistani currency. During another action the customs team seized fine quality hashish and heroin.

According to details, Collector Gwadar Saeed Akram received secret information that some smugglers are planning to smuggle forged Pakistani currency from Gwadar to Hyderabad en-route to Karachi. He constituted a team under the supervision of Assistant Collector Wajahat Hussain. The team established checking points at different entry and exit points of the city and started checking of vehicles.

During checking customs team intercepted a passenger bus and during cheking reovered forge Pakistani currency amounting to Rs6 million and also recovered 60 gold sets. Three passengers claimed the ownership of currency and jewellery. Customs team arrested all the three persons and registered a case of smuggling against them. The market value of seized jewellery is Rs8,00,000.

During another crackdown against smugglers customs team during checking of coaster van recovered huge quantity of narcotics. A customs team under the supervision of Assistant Collector Wajahat Hussain which also includes Inspectors Ghulam Ullah Khan and Inspector Mumtaz intercepted a coaster and recovered 250 kilograms of fine quality hashish and one kilogram of heroin. The market value of seized narcotics is Rs25 million. Customs team after seizing the narcotics registered a case against accused persons.
