Hyderabad ASO thwarted bid to smuggle diesel, make-up kits

HYDERABAD: Customs collectorate Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has foiled an attempt to smuggle foreign origin hair dye machines and other make-up kits. During another crackdown, the ASO recovered 18,000 liters non-duty paid Iranian diesel.

According to details, Collector Hyderabad Agha Shahid Majeed received information that some smugglers are planning to smuggle a huge quantity of non-duty paid hair dyers and make up kits outside the area of Latifabad. He conveyed the information to Additional Collector Umar Shafiq. The additional collector constituted a team which started checking of vehicles at different places of the city.

The team intercepted a passenger van and during checking recovered 200 foreign origin hair dyers and 100 make up its. Customs team seized the goods and registered a case of smuggling against accused persons.

During another action Hyderabad customs authorities recovered huge quantity of smuggled Iranian diesel. Collector Hyderabad Agha Shahid Majeed secret information about smuggling of Iranian diesel. He formed a team who started checking of vehicles. The team intercepted an oil tankers and recovered 18,000 liters of non-duty paid Iranian diesel. Customs team arrested the driver of oil tanker. The market value of seized Iranian diesel is Rs1 million.
