Appraisement-West bags Rs 285.4b in financial year 2015-16

KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate Appraisement-West has collected at least Rs 285.486 billion in wake of duty/taxes during outgoing fiscal year 2015-16.

Sources told Customs Today that the Appraisement-West collected Rs 112,761 million under the head of customs duty; Rs 123,491 million as sales tax; Rs 47,214 million as income tax and Rs 2,021 million under the head of federal excise duty (FED).

During fiscal year 2014-15, it generated Rs 233.701 billion that included Rs 92,555 million as customs duty, Rs 100,727 million as sales tax, Rs 38,533 million as income tax and Rs 1,887 million as FED.

In June 2016, the Appraisement-West collected Rs 18,496 million under the head of customs duty, Rs 12,873 million under the head of sales tax, Rs 4,681 million as income tax and Rs 184 million under the head of FED.

Most significantly, it collected Rs 5,825 million on the last working day of June 2016 i.e. June 30 that included Rs 3,371 million under the head of customs duty; Rs 1,908 million under head of sales tax, Rs 529 million as income tax and Rs 17 million under the head of FED.

It is mentioned here that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) recently announced cash rewards for the officials of the collectorates on showing outstanding performance.
