DG Imtiaz congratulates Chairman Nisar on surpassing revenue targets

ISLAMABAD: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Director General Imtiaz Ahmad Khan met Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Nisar Mohammad Khan and congratulated him on achieving revenue targets for the outgoing fiscal year.

In the meeting, The chairman hoped that the department will surpass the target of new fiscal year 2016-17 without revising down. He added that tax laws will be implemented strictly in order to strengthen enforcement system in the country.

The chairman also hailed performance of the Customs Intelligence, adding that the department set history under the supervision of DG Imtiaz Khan. High goals could not be achieved without determination, he said, adding, “We (FBR) were asked many times to revise revenue targets but we continued our struggle by having faith in Allah Almighty and achieved the target”.

All field formations of the FBR, especially customs showed outstanding performance in revenue collection during last year crossing mark of Rs 3.103 trillion, he said. The chairman further added that planning for new fiscal year has been completed to realise revenue targets.

Nisar also discussed to overcome smuggling and illegal trade in the country and assured full support of FBR to strengthen anti-smuggling activities.

Later, DG Imtian Khan met to Customs Member Nasir Masroor, Inland Revenue (IR) Operations Member Dr Muhammad Irshad and IR Policy Member Rehmatullah Khan Wazi individually and congratulated on achieving target and termed it historical achievement.

It may mention here that the FBR nailed down its revenue target of Rs 3.103 billion for outgoing fiscal year 2015-16. After a decade, the board achieved unrevised revenue targets during outgoing fiscal year. Earlier, it achieved unrevised revenue targets without revising down in fiscal year 2005-06.
