MULTAN: Collector Customs Adjudication Raja Tahir Anwar Majeed has postponed the hearing of 11 cases due to hectic schedule.
Sources told Customs Today that Collector Customs Adjudication Raja Tahir Anwar Majeed has set the hearing dates of seizure cases of Multan Customs and Customs Intelligence. It was the first hearing of seizure cases after completion of Eid holidays and beginning of the new fiscal year 2016-17. These cases includes the hearing of five seizure cases of imported cigarettes smuggled by the unknown offender through various routes of Dera Ghazi Khan and Sadiqabad. Feild staff of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Range Office has successfully foiled smuggling attempt of imported cigarettes by seizing massive quantity in five actions from the jurisdiction.
Two seizure cases of imported Coaster van which were seized by Anti-Smuggling Organization in their actions in Multan city. Both seized Coaster vans were cleared under vehicle amnesty scheme of 2001 by forging the import documents of vehicles. Both vehicles were also included in the wanted list issued by customs authorities for the illegal clearance through vehicle amnesty scheme.
There was one seizure case of steel pipe and auto scrap seized by the Customs Intelligence and Investigation in their action against the loaded container near Dera Ghazi Khan region.Three cases of miscellaneous goods were also postponed due to absence of Collector Customs Adjudication. Collector Customs Adjudication Raja Tahir Anwar Majeed was busy in the hearing of cases in Lahore and unable to attend the hearing due to same day hearing schedule. Most of the respondents of these seizure cases were present to attend the hearing of their cases with their legal counsels.
These seizure cases involved the duty taxes of Rs63 million. Customs Adjudication have postponed the hearing of the seizure cases and new hearing date will be set very soon for the trial of these cases. The Collectorate of the Customs Adjudication has decided to conclude their under trial seizure cases as soon as possible for speedy justice.
