Customs Preventive seizes smuggle goods, vehicles worth Rs 11.7m in first week of FY 2016-17‏

ISLAMABAD: Customs Preventive anti-smuggling squad has seized different types of goods, non-duty paid vehicles and tempered vehicles worth Rs 11.7 million during the first week of financial year 2016-17.

Deputy Collector Preventive Shahid Jan told Customs Today that customs teams showed outstanding performance during the  first week of July. The anti-smuggling squad seized different type of goods, most of goods were foreign origin.

The deoputy collector said that Customs Preventive is following  new strategy to curb smuggling attempts in the region and they are getting fruitful results. He said that Federal Board of Revenue strictly directed to adopted zero tolerane policy towards smugglers and owners of non-duty paid vehicles.

He said that anti smuggling squad seized 350 kg of foreign origin fabric under value of Rs178238, food grains of 3442 kgs under value of Rs132657 and 148 numbers of tyres and tubes under value of Rs528967.

Deputy Collector Shahid Jan said that ASO also seized auto spare parts under value of Rs11,12,225, fake foreign origin cigarettes 150 dandas/packets under value of Rs63000, and dinner set crockery 21 kgs under value of Rs82688.

Deputy Collector said that last week ASO seized three non-duty paid vehicles (body changed) under value of Rs4129903 and also seized 3 offending vehicles under section 157.

Deputy Collector Shahid Jan said that Collector Dr.Arslan appreciated the efforts of anti smuggling squad to curb the trends of smuggling and also asked them to focus on non customs paid vehicle so Collectorate can get more revenue.
