Gwadar Customs foils attempt to smuggle foreign currency

KARACHI: Customs collectorate Gwadar authorities foiled an attempt to smuggle huge quantity of foreign currency during a crackdown.

Sources told Customs Today, that Collector Gwadar Saeed Akram received secret information that some smugglers are planning to smuggle dollars and pounds to foreign country. He immediately constituted a team under the supervision of Deputy Collector Aftabullah Shah. The team comprising Superintendent Preventive Asadullah Khan, Kashif Hasan and others.

The customs tam interccepted a ferry in open sea near Jeewani area and reovered 50,000 UK pounds, 80,000 American dollars from the secret parts of the ferry. Customs team seized the currency and arrested all the three persons who were boarded on ferry.

Customs team after registering a case of smuggling against accused persons started interrogations.  Sources said that during initial investigations it was revealed that these smugglers were going to deliver this currency to a smugglers in Pakistan Iran border area.
