Faisalabad Customs Intelligence seizes items worth Rs 3.94 billion in 2015-16

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Faisalabad has seized various contraband items, including non-duty paid vehicles worth billions of rupees.

Sources told Customs Today that Customs Intelligence also registered 127 cases during 12 months of fiscal year 2015-16. Sources said that all seizure operations were carried out after receiving instructions from Additional Director Azmat Tahira. Sources said that anti-smuggling operations were also conducted by Field Investigations Unit (FIU) Khushab and Sargodha.

The high-ups of directorate of Intelligence and Investigation have appreciated the performance of the intelligence teams who foiled various smuggling bids in the region. The Customs Intelligence seized smuggled items which includes Indian grey cloth, Iranian motor oil, scrap, auto parts, tyres and tube, besides impounding trucks  which were being used for the transportation of the smuggled items. Customs team also impounded non duty paid vehicles which were brought into country without payment of custom duty through un authorized way.

Field Investigation Unit (FIU) Khushab and Sargodha also confiscated smuggled auto parts, vehicles and other miscellaneous items during different raids.

The Customs Intelligence teams comprising Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz, Intelligence Officer Mansoor Nasir Khan, Muhammad Saleem, Naseer Ahmed, Bashir Hussain, and sepoy Mukhtar Ahmed, Khalil Ahmed, Muhammad Tariq and Muhammad Iqbal participated in the raids. Raids were conducted by Customs Intelligence teams in different areas including Sheikhupura Road, Faisalabad Motorway Toll Plaza, Smundari Road, Jhang Road and Sargodha Road.
