Punjab Revenue Authority to start crackdown on palmists, astrologist, soothsayers

LAHORE: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has decided to start a crackdown on palmists, astrologists and soothsayers in the city.

According to a senior official of the authority, at least 300 astrologist, palmists and soothsayers are earning millions of rupees per month in Lahore but they are not paying any tax. A few of them are working in television channels and are earning money from there as well against their services. The PRA has decided to take action against such elements who have failed to register themselves with Sales Tax Department. The Punjab government has imposed 16 percent sales tax on all kinds of services in Finance Bill, 2012.

The Punjab Revenue Authority has collected data regarding sales and services of the palmists, astrologist and other future predictors and will send them notices again otherwise legal action will be taken against them. PRA will start first from Lahore and then it will be broaden in whole of the province.
