Gujranwala Customs Intelligence impounds vehicle worth Rs 1.5m

SIALKOT: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Gujranwala, has impounded a non-duty paid vehicle, Toyota Hilux Surf, worth Rs 1.5 million from Mandi Bahauddin during an action.

Following the directions of Gujranwala Customs Intelligence, Assistant Director Zainab Mehmood, Superintendent Muhammad Akmal, deputed Inspector Mian Muhammad Yousaf to keep an eye on smuggled vehicles.

3,000 Iran-bound containers stranded at Karachi port as Hormuz tensions disrupt shipping

The inspector along with his team started checking of vehicles from Gujranwala to Mandi Bahauddin. During the checking, the team intercepted a vehicle Toyota Hilux Surf bearing Registration No LHR-56 Model 1996 worth Rs 1.5 million near Police Station Mandi Bahauddin.

The officials asked the driver to show documents but he could not produce the same; therefore, the team impounded vehicle and shifted to the Customs Intelligence office. It is learnt that the owner of vehicle is political figure of the area. The impounded vehicle will be sent for laboratory test and case will be referred to the Customs Adjudication for further legal actions.

Officials said that the Customs Intelligence was taking stern actions against the smugglers in region, adding that anti-smuggling campaign bringing fruitful results in this regard.
