FTO adjourns hearing of case filed by M/s Garment Engineering against RTO-I Lahore

LAHORE: The Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has adjourned hearing of a case filed by M/s Garment Engineering New Muslim Town against Regional Tax Office-I (RTO-I) Lahore until the next hearing.

According to the details, Advisor to Federal Tax Ombudsman Mian Munawar Ghafoor heard the case in which the counsel for the complainant argued that the RTO-I remained fail to make payment of tax refund claims to the company during the last two years.

The counsel added that the field formation collected excessive tax from taxpayers during last three years. The petitioners approached the commissioner concerned many times for refunds but no action was taken in this regard.

At the end, the appellants decided to approach Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) to interfere in this case and direct the Lahore RTO to clear the pending refund claims as early as possible, the counsel argued, adding that the RTO-I Lahore should clear the refunds at the end of fiscal year but it did not do the same.

On the other side, counsel for RTO-I Lahore argued that the RTO has ready to settle the case after assessment. After hearing the arguments from both sides, Advisor of FTO Mian Munawar Ghafoor adjourned the case until next date for further hearing and directed the parties to appear on the said date.

Meanwhile Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has also adjourned the hearing of a case filed by M/s Muhammad Amjed,Sialkot versus Secratary Revenue Division Islamabad Regional Tax Office (RTO) Sialkot till next hearing.

According to the details, Advisor to Federal Tax Ombudsman Naseer Ahmed heard the complaint of  M/s Muhammad Amjad, Sialkot versus Secretary Revenue Division Islamabad Regional Tax Office (RTO) Sialkot in which the counsel for the appellant argued that the RTO has failed to make payment of tax refund claims to the company.

After hearing the arguments from both sides the Adviser of Federal Tax Ombudsman Naseer Ahmed adjourned the case till next date for further hearing and directed the parties to appear on said date for further hearing.
