Customs officials directed to maintain details of leading taxpayers

SIALKOT: All Model Customs Collectorates in the Country have directed officers to maintain functional details of leading taxpayers for prompt contact and close working liaison.

Sources told Customs Today that an order issued by higher customs authorities, all Model Customs Collectorates in the country including Sialkot has ordered all the additional collectors, deputy collectors and assistant collectors to maintain functional contact details of top taxpayers — importers, manufacturers, clearing agents, shipping agents, associations, trade bodies and chambers, etc.

Sources told that they further directed that concerned Additional Collectors, Deputy Collectors and Assistant Collectors must maintain current contact addresses particularly cell number, office numbers, fax number and email address of top duty, taxpayers who make up 80 percent revenue collection of the concerned group, section. This will help in maintaining close working liaison with the clientele. Periodic meetings should also be organized, coordinated to hear the clientele to address their problems, if any, or how to make improvements in the working, the office order said. Customs Collectorates has started work to maintain functional details because it is need of time and all concerned officers are taking keen interest for this purpose. Sources told that the higher customs authorities will watch the progress of all officers on said assignment.
