Faisalabad ASO seizes non-duty paid Toyota Hilux

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized foreign origin Toyota Hilux Surf bearing registration no. KV-017 (Islamabad) model 1995 in blue colour worth Rs 2 million involving custom duty and taxes to the tune of Rs 1,455,670.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan Khan received information regarding some smuggling attempts. He formed an ASO team under the supervision of Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joiya which also included Inspector Khalid Ashraf Noor, Safdar Ali, Ali Zahid, driver Muhammad Khalid Dogar and Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Shah Zaib sepoys. The ASO team intercepted a Hilux surf near police station Sargodha Road Faisalabad.

The ASO team asked driver of the vehicle to produce legal documents regarding the possession of the vehicle but he failed to show any legal documents. It was revealed through initial interrogations that the vehicle was brought into country without paying of Customs Duty and Taxes by un legally procedure. The ASO team seized the vehicle and forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.
