Customs anti-smuggling squad impounds vehicle, contraband items worth of Rs 2.64m

ISLAMABAD: With special instructions of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the anti-smuggling squad has seized contraband items and one offending bus worth Rs 2.64 million.

According to details told by Deputy Collector Preventive Shahid Jan,  the Anti smuggling squad was on its routine patrolling on Rawalpindi-Peshawar GT Road near Gujjar Khan when the squad stopped a bus having registration no LWC-8706.

The squad asked the driver to provide the relevant documents of loaded items and the bus but the driver did not provided the relevant documents to the customs staff, after that the squad seized the smuggled goods and the offending vehicle.

Jan said that anti smuggling activity will continue during next financial year 2016-17 with more effective manners according to provided line of order by the Chairman (FBR).

The deputy collector said that anti smuggling squad already working hard to curb the smuggling trends and also contributed a value able quantity of revenue in financial year 2015-16.

He said that under this seizer the anti smuggling Squad seized foreign origin Cotton Viscose Textile Fabric with quantity of 784 kilo grams, the estimated value of said textile fabric was Rs 399252.

He said that squad also seized Cell phones under quantity of 429 Pcs the estimated value of the cell phones was Rs 243042.

Jan said that anti smuggling squad  also seized an offending vehicle bus, the estimated value of said vehicle was Rs 2 million, the bus was coming from Peshawar, the appreciation call is received by Collector to Anti smuggling squad so the moral could be maintain of anti smuggling squad who work 24/7.

He said that smuggled items and offending bus have been seized under the Customs act, 1969 and FIR has been lodged against the accused, the further investigation is underway.

This successful seizer was led by Customs Preventive Superintend Zargam Dil, Deputy Superintend Rana Shakeel, Sepohie Abdul Malik and Inspector Ahmed Junaid.
